UON UCU is driven by democratic principles, taking direction from its members, based upon the policies passed at branch meetings and election of its officers.

For the union’s day to day operations, the Executive Committee is elected each year, with representation from all member and staff categories. The Executive is supported by the following sub groups:

• Joint Consultation and Negotiating Committee (JCNC) – where the union and management negotiate over issues affecting staff.  UCU members are appointed by the branch Executive Committee.
• Recruitment, Organisation and Campaigns Committee (ROCC) – focussing on recruitment and campaigns.
• Trade Union Liaison where UCU and UNISON meet with Human Resources to discuss current employment issues.

UON UCU is a member of the Northampton Trades Council and an active member of UCU’s East Midlands Regional Committee.
